Trust Secrets W. Mermaids

Since I live in Upstate NY our winters are rather long....and when I received the new stamps from Just For Fun I immediately thought warm thoughts and today's card is the outcome.

If you know JFF then you know that these are brand new stamps!! It's like Christmas but better!! Make sure to head on over and check it out here

For my card I used the sentiment stamp found here. As you can see I cut my stamp apart....yes, I did that! I used to be afraid of cutting my stamps but then I realized that if you are going to get more use out of them then grab those scissors and go for it.

That beautiful image stamp is also new and can be found here. After I stamped the image in a Desert Sand ink I took various colors and sponged them in. I then wrapped some twine, attached some faux sea shells and gems, and then layered it onto the base.

Thanks again for stopping by today. If you are curious to see more of my work you can find me here on my blog.

Happy Crafting!

Sunny Day: Die Cut Challenge

Welcome to another wonderful challenge day over at Sunny Day Crafting. This week we were challenged to use a Die Cut somewhere on your project and here is what I created.

This card was made using the retired CTMH "Oh Deer" paper line. If you missed out on this lovely line then you can shop here for coordinating stamps and accessories.

To make this card I started with a matted piece of our B&T paper. Since this paper is double sided I was also able to use the reverse side for the smaller matted layers without having to worry about coordinating patterns or colors. Nice and Easy!! After I had the card matted I took the top piece of the paper and cut off the strip to lay across the front. Then I decided to add two smaller matted layers and some of the matching accessories from this line. The deer die cut is attached with 3-D foam tape and has some twine wrapped around to mimic a scarf.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to head on over to Sunny Day and play along with us!

Green Duck - February Release!!

I'm so excited to be bringing you the very newest die cuts from Green Duck!! These are the new release for February. Now I am not going to lie at first I was a little stumped but after looking through the new CTMH paper lines, I knew just what projects I wanted to make.  So without further ado let me show off the first project.

For this first project I decided to make a fun card. This card would be spectacular for a person who is traveling, perhaps a honeymoon, or even just someone who lives coastal.

I started with a blue card base and adhered a white matted layer on top. You could dry emboss this top layer or leave it blank as I have. I decided to let those wonderful circles fend for themselves. I then decided to cut 1" circles out of my anchor patterned paper, the circle punch just fit so well. When I realized the anchor circles were not enough I decided to cut 1.25" circles out of the same blue cardstock as the base.

To top this card off I then took some of my favorite Green Duck dies from this months kit and I put them on the diagonal. This broke up the background and made a really fun card. To allow these die cuts to stand out against those strong anchors I decided to pop them up using 3-D foam tape.

Thanks for checking out my newest post today. Oh, and as for the second project, you just have to come back here next Friday and see what else this wonderful kit can make... I'll give you a hint, it's a great travel companion.

I am so excited to be bringing you my first ever hand made card kit!! Yay!! I was messing around all day yesterday and finally came up with a couple of designs I really love!!

These cards use the retired "Confetti Wishes" paper line. This paper is so much fun to use and has a variety of color combinations that work great with it. Check out the same card in blue.

I tried to keep these kits basics to make sure to hit on all skill levels. These cards can be easily dressed up or even kept just the way they are. So, just to make sure that you are as excited about my new journey I am giving you a chance to win one of these kits for FREE!! I told you I love giving away things!! All you have to do in order to enter to win this kit is to head over to my facebook page and tell me what your favorite CTMH paper line is. It's that easy.

Just For Fun: Sponged Tag

I know you have heard me say it so many times before, but I am hoping today's post proves it. The stamptangle set over at Just for Fun Stamps is amazing!! I simply love all of the detail. Here check it out for yourself.
For this card I heat embossed this stamped image using white embossing powder and a heat gun. This gives the image a very crisp look.

After I had the imaged raised and glossy I took some Fern and Peacock inks along with my tim holtz round sponge and I got to work inking the entire tag. I started with the darkest color in the bottom corner and then I worked the lighter Fern green into it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my project.

"The Why"

As many of you know, my husband and I just got back from our very first Disneywold family vacation!! YAy!! I still feel like there is a crowd cheering me on every time I say "Disneyworld..." Hey a girl can keep dreaming right?! Well without getting too far off track we ended up packaging a lot of our vacation together which helped save us TONS of money..leaving more room for spending... hey you still need to keep things in balance right?! Well anyway since we ended up saving so much we decided to purchase the Disney Memory Maker photo pass for $150. Now if you have never heard of this, or think you do not need it, then you need to investigate further because it's amazing. But since this is not a post about Disney and more about all of those photos I now will have a digital copy of, we shall continue with the story.

So Disney is a once in a life time deal right?! Right! It's truly magical, which is why spending $150 to get EVERY single photo your family is in without ever picking up a camera is not a big deal. I'm talking about the "Ahhh!!" face ride photos, the family photos in front of the castle, and of course those character meets...big deal and a great price. Well again this post is not about Disney, in fact what it's actually about is when you receive all of those photos, after the "yay's" and "remember whens" die down and the realization sits in that you are now 500 photos deep...and then.... then.... well sadly more than 60% of mine end up in a shoe box!! I know shame on me..but my guess is that more than likely you have some of those boxes too...or worse yet you post them to social media and never even take them off the digital version!!! Yikes too much faith in technology for me!!

Well, I am here to challenge show you how to really and truly take care of those memories. I mean really that's all photographs are right, sometimes even so much so that it becomes all the next generation has to hold onto. This is why it's important to cherish these photographs and present them in a fun and creative fashion for you and your loved ones to enjoy for years to come. Now this does not have to be the traditional sit down and take out my fancy scissors and construction paper and let me get to work on this 10 hour long layout. First off, I'll show you how to do a layout in 30 minutes with only a ziploc bag full of supplies!! I know, no lie. But beyond basic, traditional, scrapbooking, this art form has grown into so much more. Seriously google pocket scrapbooking, or smash books, or even just look and see how easy it is to make a batch of birthday cards (you would never need to purchase another $10 card  again!!) I am all about saving you money and showing you how to capture our memories, take them out of the shoebox, and put them into beautiful pieces of art, all in an affordable and more importantly easy way.

So, stop thinking "it's not for me" or "I just don't have the time/space" and start thinking about how important cherishing those memories are. About how easy it is to slide some photos and some pre-printed cards into a beautiful album. Or even perhaps, how beautiful would it be to hand your customer a personalized card (with very little effort on your end..I won't tell if you don't.)

Even if I have not convinced you to come along and start scrapbooking, I at least hope that I have inspired you to keep and open mind and follow along as I show you just how easy and fun cherishing memories can be.
