Simple Pleasures

Thanks for joining us for our brand new challenge over at Sunny Day, where it's always Anything Goes with an optional twist!! I love the idea of an optional twist, it still leaves the week open for you to play along, however it gives you a little inspiration if you need it to get going! So much fun! This week our optional twist is "Scrapbook layouts!" and you know that I jumped right on board with it.

This layout uses the CTMH "Oh Deer" paper pack. I just love the pale winter tones this paper line has in it. And make sure to check out the glittery twine!! Love it.

It's hard to see but the "Oh Deer" complements come with kraft foiled sentiments and embellishments (like those stars) so I decided to layer those onto the photos in clusters.

For my journal tag I decided to cut some paper down to size and add some of those same accessories. I love that sentiment!

I hope you enjoyed my layout for today! Please make sure to come on over and play along with us at Sunny Days where it's always "Anything Goes."

Make Your Own Sunshine Card

Today I decided to grab my Just for Fun stamps and make a "sympathy" or more of a "get well" card that would be perfect for a friend in need of some cheering up.

I love the design of this card and wish that I could have captured it better. The front outside corner folds down creating a really fun "peek-a-boo" aspect to the card. After I folded down the corner I decided to layer and mat my image to really draw the focus up to that beautiful Floral Tea Cup stamp from JFF. I then decided that the Stamptangle Sideview Butterfly would be a wonderful complement to those flowers. I finished off the card with a sentiment sticker (intended for a planner) and some black enamel dots from CTMH.

Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my project. For more about Just For Fun make sure to head on over to the blog and say "Hello!"

Green Duck Winner!! & Project 1

Today we announce the first of many monthly winners in our Green Duck Monthly Give-a-Way!! I am so excited to be launching this brand new monthly give-a-way and cannot wait for you guys to start creating with these beautiful monthly die cuts!!

If you missed it, take a look at this month's kit.

So the winner for this month is Dawn Schmidt!! Yay! Congratulations Dawn please contact me at ssdesigns.us@gmail.com to arrange for shipping.

If you did not take part in this month's drawing for the Green Duck monthly box then no worries, simply stay tuned, and at the end of this month I will have a brand new Give-a-Way! Or better yet sign up to receive my projects and tutorials via email by using the banner icon on the right.

And now on to this month's first project. Since I have school aged children I received the monthly box and immediately thought classroom Valentine's Day Cards. Now after I started making them and realized I would have to make 20+ I decided to switch gears and instead of making note cards for the class I was going to make love cards for my family members!! Either way though these die cuts are perfect for some 3"x 3" note cards and you get enough die cuts in the kit to make 20 cards, I was just lacking ambition ;)

See how easy and adorable it is to make little 3"x 3" note cards. I hope you can see the glitter and extra embellishments that each die cuts has, it really helps with these simple card designs.

For these cards I cut up a 12" x 12" solid colored piece of cardstock (I used pink.) These card bases will measure 6" x 3" and can easily be cut in strips. Then you will score at 3" and fold in half. The patterned paper comes from The Paper Studio's "All Season'" line.  Making note cards is a great way to use up scraps of paper!!

Through the Year Pocket Letter

Over the holidays I took on the challenge to make a "Throughout the Year" pocket letter to send to a pen pal and now that it has been received I wanted to share it with all of you, just in case you would like to send one out :)

So "Throughout the Year" could mean a lot of different things, however, in this case it just represents the holidays throughout the year.

Now when I go to make my Pocket Letters, or really any happy mail item, I try to use and send along items that I necessarily would not use, but that others would use. For example, I love sending pink things. Since I have boys, and we are outside a lot, pink is a color that I do not tend to use. Think of swaps as a way to update and clean your supplies out all at once, plus who doesn't love receiving presents back in the mail!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the project and were inspired to find some people to swap with. There are tons of Facebook groups to choose from, or perhaps you just want to swap with a couple of close friends. Either way have fun and keep creative!

"Oh Deer!" Trading Cards & Kit Value

Thanks for stopping in today as we celebrate "Arctic Animals" as our optional theme over at Sunny Day Crafting. For this theme I could not wait to pull out the CTMH "Oh Deer" paper line and make some project life cards, or Artist Trading Cards (ATC), which I will be able to use in upcoming projects.

Everything that I used on these three cards came from the "Oh Deer" line. I simply cut out, layered, and tied on to create these easy layouts.

I always talk up the paper kits from CTMH, but seriously if you are looking to ever get the most "bang for your buck" these kits are the way to go. For example take a look at the brand new "Sugar Rush" line (sorry, the "Oh Deer retired with the new year.)

So in these kits you get enough product to make a month's worth of stuff. Seriously check it out.

1 – Sugar Rush paper packet (12 sheets of designer doubled sided paper)
1 – Sugar Rush Complements (4 sheets 2-D stickers & chipboard die cuts)
4 – cardstock sheets (1 Whisper, 3 White Daisy)
1 – Sugar Rush dots
1 – Sugar Rush washi pack

With my "Oh Deer" kit I was able to make ATC cards, 12 full size A2 cards using a OSW template, and two scrapbook layouts!! Seriously, talk about stretching your supplies.  I will be posting all of those projects every Tuesday this month, when I introduce the new Sunny Day challenge, so make sure to stay tuned.

Also, if you are interested in ordering from CTMH then make sure to contact me. I will be placing an order soon and have an excellent hostess incentive program.

If you are interested in checking out, and playing along, with our Sunny Day challenge you can click here to link up.

Thanks and I hope to see you back here on Thursday for brand new pocket letter! :)

Green Duck Give-A-Way

I hope everyone's 2017 is off to a great start!

Now as many of you know I am a Design Team Member for Green Duck Sales and as part of that DT I get to play with awesome, pre-made, pre-embellished, specialty themed die cuts each month before anyone else does!! Being a part of this Monthly Club allows me to always have a beautiful embellishment, focal point, or even sentiment ready to go at a moments notice. Now I am not just talking about a simple print and cut image, I am talking about a fully embellished, beautifully decorated, themed die cut with no work at all from me. Now aside from being super simple and fast this monthly club is also very very fun! Each month the contents of the box are a mystery and I always love surprises! Oh and the best part of this, as if you needed more, is that this monthly club is super affordable, at only $10.00 a month!!

Why am I telling you this? Well because it's a great deal and you should totally sign up for these wonderful boxes. However, before you jump the gun, I know that mysteries can be a little intimidating at times, so let me give you a little sneak peak of this month's box and what you can make with it.

I quickly made five ATC cards (or project life cards,) four completely adorable Valentine's Day note cards, and two large embellishments. The best news is that I still had five beautiful extra embellishments left over. This kit includes over 18 large die cut pieces, three sentiment logs, and a number of smaller conversation hearts (some labelled, some blank) taking care of all of your Valentine's Day needs.

Now, If that was not enough great news and you are still not sold on this monthly club then let me show you how lovely these images are and how much fun it is to receive this monthly subscription in the mail! Thant's right for one week only I will be running a special Give-A-Way that you can enter here. This Give-A-Way will be for one lucky fan to receive January's Die Club box delivered right to your door for FREE!! That's right everything you see below, delivered right to you.

So what do you have to do to win? Simply click on this link here, or check out my side banner, and then answer two quick questions. That's it! Then I will randomly draw a winner next Thursday and announce it next Friday along with a brand new project using the same kit.

If you are interested in checking out Green Duck further please make sure to head over to their Etsy store here. Thanks for stopping by today and Good Luck!

Sunny Days: Optional Disney Challenge

Happy New Year!! I am so excited and amp'd that the holiday season is finally over and that my family and I can finally start awaiting our Disney Vacation!! It's hard to believe that there is only 19 more days to go!!

Ahh... so much to make (and to pack!!) So needless to say the month of January will probably feature a ton of Disney projects, like today's "Magic Mini Album."

I used Simple Stories Disney pack along with some black
3-D letters from my stash to spell out "Disney." I then added some extras using the stickers that come in the Simple Stories pack. I love that quote so much.

Here is a closer view of the front cover.
As you can see I accidentally forgot to cover the frame of the album leading the album to be very bare bones and distressed. At first I was going to scrap the whole album, but I fell in love with front cover and this next page, so after a lot of contemplation and trying to remodel (unsuccessfully) I ultimately decided to keep adding to it.

This page uses more of the Simple Stories line along with a print and cut Mickey and Minnie which I found on the Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge. Another reason I love this album is that it has lots of flips and flaps and tons of space for easy to add 4"x6" photos, so stay tuned for a video, that is when it's complete.

Ironically, Sunny Day Crafting has decided to make this week's optional theme "Disney!!" Perfect for me. So please make sure to stop over to Sunny Day and check out some of the other Disney Projects. You can also link up your projects and play along with us.

Thanks for stopping in and enjoy your day!

JFF Stamptangle Balloon

Today is my day to design for the always delightful Just For Fun blog! As you are probably aware by now, I adore these stamps. They are just unique enough to always stay fun, whether you are coloring, outline stamping, background stamping, or everything in between. In other words, make sure to stop on over to Just For Fun and have a look at what they offer.

Now onto today's card. I decided to dig out my project life cards and piece together a quick card using the Stamptangle Balloon stamp. I'm always looking to add to my "Everyday" card stash and today's card does just that.

This card could be used in a number of different holiday's or situations, I kept the colors cool and the sentiment neutral. Think Birthday's, Valentine's Day, or really any everyday thing like the ever important "Thank you's."

To make this card, I stamped the balloon image onto a piece of vellum paper and then I fussy cut it out. This beautifully designed hot air balloon will now be my focal point. I then picked out a number of items from my "accessory bin" and pieced together a small sentiment cluster. When making cluster's I like to keep the number three in mind. As in three pearls, three accessory pieces, I even imagine a triangle laying over the card and use the three points to lay everything out.

Thanks for checking out my creation today! I hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start and I'll see you back here tomorrow for a brand new Anything Goes Challenge.
