ScrapMuch?! Challenge

Happy Friday which means that I have a scrapbook layout to show off today and this week just happens to be the first sketch of the month for ScrapMuch?! Now remember you have all month to play along with these sketches so take your time and most importantly have fun!

This week I choose to capture a couple of pictures from the D-man's first Spring trip outside in the rainy weather. Of course with the rain (boots, coat, and all) we just had to head on over and play around in the mud!

I think my favorite piece of this layout, aside from the photos, is that lovely journal card in the upper right, under the boys sign. This is just a PL card with some letters used as the title which I then tucked away in a brown envelope, but for some reason I absolutely love the way it came out.

Here is the sketch. As you can see I played around with the photo placement a little so that it met the needs of my book and my photos.

I hope you enjoyed this quick post. The boys are both still home from school and the baby is stirring. Make sure to come back here on Sunday for a photo inspiration challenge!! See you then.

Creative Knockouts Meets Mojo Monday Card

Good Morning and welcome back to Digital Thursday! We had a little hiccup last week, because not only was I on vacation all week, but my printer also ran out of ink making it really tough to print a digital stamp! But hey, now I am back in full swing with a brand new Creative Knockouts project to show off.

This week over at CK we are all about layering!! I love layering, especially with digital stamps and I could not wait to play around with this week's digi. This week CK has a new sponsor called Art of Ching-Chou Kuik which is a fabulous Asian inspired creator. The image that I used on my project is one of her's and is called Wishing Stars and features the character Lil Sweetie Mia. Ching Chou Kuik is generously offering the winner of our challenge two free images so make sure to come on over and play along then head over to her Etsy shop and take a look at her designs.

I decorated the inside of the card with that same paper which is from the Jillibean Soup "Chilled Cucumber Soup" collection. I colored in the image using my Marvy Markers and then I used a fun little sentiment which I received as "Happy Mail" last week from a fellow crafter.

Here is a closer view of that image.

And the inside.

I should also mention that the sketch inspiration for this card came from this week's Mojo Monday sketch which looks like this.

Thanks for stopping by today. Remember to come on over to Creative Knockouts and play along with us this week.

Pocket Letters - a new beginning

We made it to another hump day! D-man is on Spring break this week so I am a lot more busy than I normally am.. plus I have all sorts of crafty projects in the pipeline..think glass blocks, deck signs, and shirts galore!! So if you have not signed up to receive these updates through e-mail then there's no time like the present...believe me you will not want to miss these upcoming projects and challenges!

For today's post I wanted to share a simple Pocket Letter that  made for a group swap. These little beauties are so popular right now and after I made my first one I quickly could see why.

For this swap we were challenged to use the following nine items as a starting point. The items were an owl, a key, a cupcake, a heart, coffee cup, crown, mason jar, butterfly, and clock. For the majority of these items I placed them right on the front using die cuts and the Cricut Explore. If I did not have a die cut that I wanted to use then I found a PL card, like for the mason jar, and used that. Some of the items, like the key, are hidden inside the pockets because they were metal accessories and that's where they fit.

Here's the back of the pockets. I did not use any special formula to put this together or to determine what I put inside each one. My main focus was to get those nine items in the design and to make sure that I have a wide selection of goodies for my pen pal.

So inside each pocket I added sequins, framelits, washi tape, some metal and gold foil accessories, gift tags, heart stickers, some pocket life cards and accessories, and then I filled a pocket with some phrases made of various materials.

Since this is a new and trendy thing there are tons of photos and even recipe cards to follow. In fact Janette Lane is thought to be the founder of these wonderful letters and has a whole website with tons of tips and designs.

I hope you enjoyed my project today! Feel free to come on over to my facebook page and share your ideas and letters! See you over there.

April Showers Card

Today I have a fun Spring themed card to share with you. The inspiration for this card came from this week's Fusion Card Challenge which not only showed a wonderful rainbow umbrella, but also had an excellent sketch to go along with it. Here take a look at the challenge first and then my card.

I thought that the Splish Splash file found over at Marjorie Ann Designs would be an excellent file for this card. This file is so adorable and immediately screamed shape card to me, but then I found this sketch and couldn't resist.

Splish Splash SVG Cutting Files Includes Clipart

I was stuck on whether to put the sentiment on the inside or the outside of the card and finally decided the outside just to save some space for a message on the inside. I also went ahead and decorated the inside of the card. The images in the corners also came from the Splish Splash file.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today. It was just in time for some rainy upstate NY spring weather this week :) Make sure to head on over to Fusion and join in on the challenge and then check out Marjorie Ann Design's new Spring files (and now offering digital stamps!!!)

PL Feb. Title

I've been slacking a little bit on my project life pages and my stash is simply growing beyond belief, so I decided to get working on some title pages before I get buried in PL cards. For the boys scrapbook I have decided to make each month's title page a PL spread. This way I use up that ever growing stash and it also helps me to stay on the ball.

The thing I love about PL is that you can be either word heavy, photo heavy, or perhaps even both and the page can still look wonderful. This works well for me because sometimes it's about the story and sometimes it's simply about the pictures.

These pictures highlight some of my favorites for the month of February and since these are my favorite photos I thought that the CTMH journal cards would be a perfect fit. I kept the embellishments to a minimum because I wanted the focus to be more on the photos than the scrapbooking.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope to see you back here next week, I have a lot of fun things prepared!

Becomes a Memory Card

It's always hard to create sympathy cards, especially when they are meant for or are because someone you know personally has passed on. Today's card is just that, a sympathy card I made when my cousin passed away this last January.

This card uses some old school CTMH papers. I am pretty sure it's from the Ivy Lane collection from CTMH. This was such a beautiful collection and you can see the opposite side of that green on the inside of the card. I also decided to use the CTMH stamp set "Big Hug" for the inside sentiment and "Someone Special" for that beautiful flower.

Well that's enough sadness for one day.  I hope you enjoyed the card.

Sunny Days Challenge & Ocean Pirate Invitations!

Thanks for coming back in today as I bring you another edition of Sunny Day Crafting's inspirational photo challenge. Now I am not going to lie today's photo was spectacular and so many different things came to my mind, but finally I decided to settle on a child's birthday invite and hope you enjoy!
So first up is the photo and the challenge which you can find here.

It's all about travel... or blue...or those beautiful palm trees. Honestly the best thing about this challenge is that it's up to you to decide how you would like to interpret that photo.

This week I went a little outside of the normal for me and instead of using the items in the picture as inspiration I decided to use the color.

Isn't he just the best for any sort of sea or pirate themed birthday, baby shower, or really any party!! I love it and could not pass up the chance to make him into an invite. This little creature is from the Create a Critter Cartridge and can be fully customized to meet your party needs.

Here is a little peak at the back.

Remember that you have two weeks to come on over and join our photo challenge so make sure to stop by and check out what the other team members came up with and of course to play along.

ScrapMuch Challenge! You're Amazing

This week's sketch over at ScrapMuch?! definitely challenged me to create a page using tools which I normally would not use...but that is why we join design teams right!? to stretch our skills and move outside of our comfort zones a little bit.  Here take a look at our newest sketch.

Beautiful right?! But then take a closer look and notice all of the grungy background stenciling?!! And the beautiful edges which made me want to reach for my watercolor paints...but then I got a little intimidated! And so I stuck to my basics and went only a little outside of my comfort zone.

I adore these photos and wanted to capture Moose Man doing some tummy time...and of course lifting that head and getting ready to crawl! Any day now!

For the background I got out my stencils and sponge and inked a couple of different blues in each. I used Lagoon from CTMH and Salty Ocean from Tim Holt'z distress inks. I then decided to play with my new paper pack from The Paper Studio called Little Boys and Their Toys. I purchased this paper pack because I tend to go through my boy paper much faster than any other paper.. go figure right!

Well there you have it for this week. I would love to stay and chat more but Moose Man is now awake from his nap so I am off to my other duties. Make sure to come on over to ScrapMuch?! and join us for this challenge and/or any of our other monthly challenges.

Creative Knockouts: Humor Challenge

Happy Digital Thursday where I bring you a project that was made using a digital stamp! Since I have been dong these weekly installments I have been getting much better at using my alcohol markers and watercolor pencils and while I love both of these mediums, I for some reason tend to use my markers more. Well today is no exception to that.

For this week's Creative Knockouts challenge we were challenged to create a funny or humorous card and our sponsor is none other that Doodle Pantry. Doodle Pantry has some excellent digital stamps which fit this challenge so well and they made it difficult to choose just one, but I think I picked a good one.

This card was made using some retired CTMH paper along with the Lemon Ants file. This was such a fun file to play with and had a couple of really good sentiments that would have fit this challenge well.

Here's a close up of the image on my card. Again it was colored in using my alcohol markers. I then sponged some clouds on the background and there you have it...nice and easy.

And here is what comes with the image when you purchase it from the store. Check out those really fun sentiments!

Make sure to head on over to Doodle Pantry and check out their designs. Also don't forget to come back over to Creative Knockouts and enter you card into the challenge. Who knows it may be your lucky week and since Doodle Pantry is giving one lucky winner either 3 free items or a $10 gift card to their store, this is one challenge you don't want to miss out on.

Bathroom Wall Art

Ok, so I haven't talked a lot about it on my blog but a couple of years ago my husband and I purchased our first home which happens to be a "fixer upper." I mention this now because we have officially began the fixing up part of this journey which is so awesome because not only do I get to design a whole house the way I want...but I also get to design all of the home decor and accents and today's post, while small, is the start of that journey.

While scanning through Marjorie Ann Designs site I came across these adorable bathroom frogs, which I knew instantly needed to be added to my boys bathroom.

Bathroom Frogs SVG Cutting Files Includes Clipart

Are they not the cutest! The file is called Bathroom frogs and can be found here. There are just so many ideas that came to my mind, like vinyl!! But I settled for making something which uses the material I had on hand and decided to go with a nice and easy wall least to start things off.

This was so easy to make and I will be making two matching sets with the wash and flush as soon as I get some more free time.

Thanks so much for checking out my post for today! Have a happy hump day!

Mother's Day Pair

So the next major holiday in my house happens to be Mother's Day so I figured I would get a jump start on trying out a couple of new techniques on this year's cards.

This first card is stamped with a beautiful large background stamp and then I white embossed it and then I hit it with my heat gun. I adore this technique on cards because it is extremely easy and adds such an elegant touch. After I heat embossed the ink I then took some red ink and sponged it over the raised ink and wah-lah you end up with this lovely card.

On my next card I used the "Bokeh" technique. This technique is also simple and requires little in terms of supplies. The first thing you need is a circle stencil which you can either purchase or make from cardstock. If you are making a stencil make sure that you are random with where you put your circles and try to have atleast three different sizes. After I have the stencil I then sponge on three different colored inks, in this case I used purple, pink, and then the white is always the highlighting ink.

The stamps I used for both of these cards are from Close to My Heart. I was also going to double layer that silver shimmer trim but I ran out prior to adding that second strip.

Well I hope you enjoyed my cards today and were inspired to head out and create something beautiful!

For You Card

I have been playing around with my Cricut Flower Shoppe Cartridge a lot lately and today was no exception. I honestly think that I am going through Spring Withdrawal since the weather has been so back and forth lately that I am now making cards just to anticipate the Spring weather.

Anyway today's card is a really fun card that can be used for many different occasions so I hope you enjoy it

Again the flower is from the Cricut Flower Shoppe cartridge and that lovely polka dotted paper is from Close to My Heart. I decided on the yellow and black color combination because it's a hot combo right now and again I was really pushing for the Spring weather to come through as I was making this card.

Well I hope you enjoyed this card for today and I hope the weather is much nicer where ever you are. Come on back tomorrow for a lovely set of Mother's Day Cards.

Hello Baby Layout

Happy Friday! Today I have a page which I made just because I loved the pictures so much. This page is very special because D-man spoke some really kind and lovely words which he wanted me to record for Moose and since they are brothers I know that kind words will not always be spoken so I jumped on this chance.

This was Moose man at about the 3 month mark. As you can see it was important for me to get all three of my boys into the photos because they all continue to grow and change so much each and every day.

This was the card I was telling you about before. These are such sweet words spoken directly from big of course I documented them.

The parts and accessories come from a variety of places and here are some close up photos of them.

I hope today's post helped to show you just how important documenting everyday life is. And whether you are new or seasoned at memory keeping and scrap booking just remember there is no right or wrong way to do...just do it.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope that you continue to find inspiration and encouragement from this blog.

Creative Knockouts: Border Time

Hello and welcome to another fabulous Creative Knockouts challenge. This week we are focusing our projects on borders which is always fun to see. We also are being sponsored by Sassy Studio Design and the DT and I have came up with some awesome "Girl Power" projects so make sure to head on over and check out everyone's.

For my project I am using the Wonder Woman Sassy stamp which is offered here. This was a really fun stamp to play around with and of course who doesn't LOVE Wonder Woman!

I wanted this card to be wonderful (get the pun!!) and so I decided to make it into an easel card...that way she could pop right off from the background. I used an ink dauber to create that sky background, you can see the tutorial here. I also took that sky line image from a basic google search and brought it into design space and used that to cut it out. I love my cricut because I was also able to cut out Wonder Woman the same way.

And of course to be wonderful you need a wonderful inside, so I took a quote directly from Wonder Woman herself and used my cricut to write it on. "Remember that in a world full of ordinary mortals you are a Wonder Woman!" I have a quick tutorial here showing how easy it is to write in design space...simply attach your text to the label for this one.

Sassy Studio Designs is giving away four free digi's to the winner of this week's challenge so make sure to come on over and play along.

Couple of Simple Cards

Hi guys! Thanks for joining me again and I hope you had some time to hop on over to our inspirational photo challenge this week and play along, the DT did amazing! Today I have some really easy cards I made a while back using a Bo Bunny card kit.

Everything in both cards came from that card kit, I just swipped and swapped some of the accessories and put my own design spin on their sketches.

I used both of these after my son's birthday party to let everyone know that we appreciated them coming and sharing that special day with us. Is it just me or are thank you cards becoming's crazy and ridiculous and I am on a path to bring them back!!

Well thanks for checking out my cards for today!
