Something Special: Everyday Card

Hey guys and Happy Friday! I hope everyone is having a great summer. Today I have a quick and pretty card that would work great for any occasion.

This card uses the papers and accessories which I received when I purchased the WeRMemory Keepers Fuse tool (you can find more projects here.) For this card I kept it simple and just adhered the embellishments using tape. The fuse tool could have been used but I tend to use that more for scrapbooking since it takes a second or two to warm it up.

I really have been trying to practice clustering my embellishments to add more of a focal point for my cards, plus I really love the way it looks.

I put the card front onto a piece of heavy weight shimmer paper which was in a Ivory color and it turned out very lovely. I like my card bases to be a solid color because this not only saved me on DSP (designer paper) but it also allows the sender to write on the inside of the card with ease.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my card.

Taggin' It (#3): Easy DIY Holiday Gift Tags

Ok so as I mentioned I am challenging myself to get better at making gift tags and the only way to get better at something is to practice, practice, practice. I figured that I would finish off the month with another holiday tag set and so that is what I am bringing to you today. These tags are super simple and ended up coming out really cute so sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy!

I wasn't sure how these ones were going to turn out and I was still playing around with making tags (hence the staples) but again I really like these ones. The gingerbread guy was cut using a Cricut Cut and was just thrown in with this set because I am sending them all out to a friend as one package.

As far as the Santa tags, I used all scraps to make these which was really nice because I am always looking for new ways to use scraps. I cut three equal strips using red/holiday DSP and then a thicker black strip to act as Santa's Belt. I found some really cool black embossed foil paper in my stash and it was all over from there. I then attached white buttons using glue dots (my favorite button/flower adhesive.) I then took some of my green ribbon and stapled them on the top. Easy as pie! The back is left blank so that you can add a personalized to and from note.

The idea of using staples can create a very unique and fun element to your designs and I am really excited to play around with it. Whether a pro or newbie, I would love to see some tags that you have made and if you are interested in sharing feel free to come on over to my facebook page and share along under this post. You never know when I will have a prize package up for grabs so come on over and share!!

CK: Alice's Birthday Card

This week over at Creative Knockouts we are celebrating Birthdays!! And There is absolutely no other way to celebrate birthdays than with an Alice in Wonderland card and a chance to score some free digi stamps!!

https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/StarStampz

Our sponsor this week is Star Stampz and they are giving 3 free digital stamps away!! Star Stampz has some awesome stamps to choose from, including the wonderful Alice Chibi stamp, which is what I used on my project today.

Most of the stuff I used came from my stash. I know that the checkered DSP is from Carta Bella's Boy Oh Boy set and that I received the rub on sentiment in a pen pal exchange and while they are tedious at times I still love the outcome of rub on sentiments.

Those lovely die cuts are actually from the Disney Classic's Cricut Cartridge. I grouped a couple of the stand alone images together and then I attached them and printed them out using the print and cut feature. I then ran them through my Xyron machine and had instant sticker/die cuts.

The print and cut feature makes it so easy to finish the whole card that I just could not help but to decorate the inside. The sentiment is another rub on from the same set I used on the front (PSX Designs)and I think that it brings the Disney element back into the card and fit so well.

If you love digital stamps as much as I do then make sure to head on over and check out what Star Stampz has in store and then (using their digi or not) come on over to Creative Knockouts and play along with us.

Lemonade Mini PL + Desert Divas!!

Today I was a guest designer over at Die Cuttin' Divas where the theme is 3-D projects!! I am so excited because 3-D Projects could be anything from home decor to... let's say happy mail!! Which of course is what I made.

This project was called a "Lemonade Mini Pocket Letter" and if you are unaware of these mini PL's then I am glad to be showcasing one to you now. These mini's are identical to the larger pocket letter except one key thing.. they are mini (or only 1 row!!)

Being 1/3 of the size of the much larger cousin is awesome because it can easily become a quick project, or perhaps an entry point into the super addicting world of Happy Mail.

I always love to throw in a little extra when I am making these mini PL's and with this one I found a really fun lemonade drink recipe card that I printed out. I then added a magnetic strip to the back of the print out so the recipient could hang it on their fridge and have easy access to quick summer drink recipes. I know clever right?!!

Here is a closer view of some of my die cuts and pocket cards.

The pocket cards are actually printed out from a free template I found online :) Shh... no one would ever know since it's printed on cardstock.

Of course I added a pocket full of lemonade goodies including but not limited to die cuts, stickers, flags, washi, ect.. I also love to add a "letter" section on any happy mail that I send out. In this section I add a letter or piece of information about me along with something special (a tea bag, a hand made note book, some hand made tags or mini cards, ect...)

If you are interested in checking out any more of my happy mail, mini albums, or other 3-D projects you can click on the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure to sign up to receive all my updates via email to ensure that you will never miss a project or lesson!

Another Set of Christmas Tags (TI-OT#2)

Thanks for stopping in today for my quick post. I have so much in store for you this week, I can hardly keep myself contained. But let's start easy and just see if I can get it all out and accomplished in one week :)

So, tomorrow I have a special surprise for you and therefore I am going to be posting my "Taggin
it on Tuesday" post today, on Monday. If you missed the first "Taggin' It On Tuesday" post you can catch up on that one here.

I was a little lost when it came to piecing together the red square tag, but hey since I am so new to tag making I figured I would spend some time messing and playing around with them, and wah-lah this is what I came up with.

Much like with my first set of tags, this set also incorporates a lot of CTMH retired winter products from last year. I also used some extras from my stash (the blue paper, the white pearl ribbon, the lace ribbon, and those bells.)

Well I hope you enjoyed this quick post today. Make sure to stop back in tomorrow for my extra special post. Enjoy your Monday!

Christmas In July: Taggin' It On Tuesday

So far my July has been extremely crazy!! Thank you all for sticking with me as I adjust and improve. Today I have a couple of wonderful new series that I would like to launch, one temporary and the other a little more permanent (at least I hope...)

Let's start right off with the temporary, but ever so much fun, one called Christmas in July. Now, you might be a little familiar with this one.. everyone does it on every level.. so why be left out.

See Christmas in July :) Who doesn't love a 6 month countdown?!!

Next up. I was challenged the other day to create a number of holiday tags when I quickly realized that I had very little experience with hand made tags and so Taggin' it on Tuesday was born. I always love the look of a handmade tag and I would love to be able to add these to my product line.

And so it begins.

I love the cluster look. Here's a closeup.

These tags were both made using a retired Holiday journal card set which I happened to pick up on clearance from CTMH. All of the cards, die cuts, and stickers were like $5.00!! Score!!

Look how pretty those cards are!

Well the baby calls me now... thank so much for stopping by!

Moment in Time

Thanks for coming back over today & of course Happy Friday!!! We have some friends coming to visit from out of town this weekend and it's going to be another beautiful weekend spent at the lake for us!! Yay!! Don't you just love summertime?!!

Well as promised, for today's post I will be showcasing my oldest son (Doo's) pre-k graduation layout..which to this mommy any little milestone is a HUGE deal..this is no exception! But before I show you the complete scrap book page, I just wanted to take a second and soak in the fact that my first born will officially be in the "Class of 2029!!" yep that's right (and not to age me or anything...but yep 2029!!...crazy!!)

So of course, "Moment in Time 2029" was set to be the perfect title for this fun page.

It was so hard to choose only three photos. Damien had such a wonderful pre-k year and I am so happy for that. I also am so much more comfortable with him going into Kindergarten with such a wonderful experience already behind us. But he made so many friends and has so many memories that I actually am walking away with a double page layout..one for today and one for next week :)

There are so many different and wonderful elements to this page. I was trying to pull the mature growing up theme into the fun it's only pre-k theme and I love the way it turned out. The "Hello Life" tag was perfect next to our family photo because it's a wide awakening when your first born is set for Kindergarten  and that tag is perfect for addressing my feeling for the day :)

In fact, most of the chalkboard embellishments as well as the vellum phrases came from a pen pal stash exchange (have I ever mentioned how much I love those!!) I also used some back to school puffy stickers to help embellish and to pull that childhood feeling into the page.

This wonderful phrase card also came from my pen pal and I just could not help attaching it to my "Today" card below and tucking it away behind our family photo. Again both quotes express how I feel about the milestone :)

Journaling can be hard over-thought sometimes which can make it intimidating, but honestly it's your memory so write anything there. Think quotes, sayings, stories, specific conversations or words, or narrate the pictures...even lists can work and add interest to any story.

On this particular card I just wrote a little memo to Doo about how proud we are of him. I plan on adding some personal touches (pictures and stories he has created throughout the year) to the other side of this 2 page layout..remember I told you I had a lot more pictures coming...it's hard to choose sometimes.

Well there you have it...my little moment in time with you. I hope you enjoyed this Friday Scrappin' Edition and have a happy and safe weekend.

CK: Animal Antics

Thanks for stopping back in today. I have been so busy adjusting to our new summer schedule lately that I am just now getting back on track. I know, I know 2 weeks is a long time to adjust, but hey some of us move like the hare and others like the tortoise. Anyway, lucky for you today is Digital Thursday and I have a wonderful and fun card for you.

I decided to use the really fun Pirate Parrot digi which I picked up from Fabrika Fantasy (our sponsor this week.) The image was really fun and comes in stand alone or with that really fun background and I just could not resist making a little boy birthday card from it. I do not ever have enough masculine cards and figured this would add in nicely to my stash.

I decided to start off with a wonderful sketch challenge brought to you by the Die Cuttin' Divas. Sometimes I have an excellent idea of how I want a card to feel but I am just not exactly sure how I want to put it together, which is where a sketch comes in handy. This sketch challenge will be up and running until Sunday and there is prize up for grabs so head on over there and check it out.

Also make sure to come on over to Creative Knockouts this week where we are having so much fun playing around with animal antics!! Yay!! Our sponsor is none other than Fabrika Fantasy and they are generously giving 3 free digi's to one lucky winner so come on over and play along.

Thanks for stopping by today. I am going to get the lovely graduation layout finished up and have that up and ready for everyone tomorrow so make sure to come back over and check it out.
