Shape Card - Create a Critter

12:00 AM 0 Comments
As promise I have a fun shaped card today which was easily made using the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge. This cartridge is so cute and so much fun to use and since my MIL is a super dog lover I figured this is the perfect V-day card to send out to her from my boys.

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your weekend!

Mojo Monday V-Day Card

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Thanks for stopping back in. Today I wanted to try something a little new for me and therefore I am bringing you a card with a digi on it. I figured that since I normally use digital images with our Creative Knockout Challenges on every other Thursday then why not continue to use digi's and coloring on Thursdays when I am not designing for CK.

This card uses a Digital image which I found on Pinterest and printed out - pre colored. I then decided to use the Mojo Monday sketch for this week since I LOVE playing with these challenges but am often too busy to fit them in. Here is the sketch:

And then since I am trying to be more adamant about sending out cards (you know I make them for a living I might as well send them out) I decided to make another Valentine's Day Card to pass out to family and friends this year.

Well I hope you enjoyed my card for today and who knows you might be the lucky one who gets this in the mail :) Make sure to come back tomorrow for a fun shape card using the Create a Critter cartridge.

Mario Brother Invitations

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Thanks for stopping back in today! As I mentioned earlier this week D-man is celebrating his 5th birthday this year and since Mario has once again become a very popular character in my household we have decided to host a Mario themed birthday party.

I always have such a fun time decorating for birthday parties, however this year we have decided to host our first birthday outside of the house and with that comes a large expense to have someone else handle all of the nitty gritty details. So, needless to say my job this years was looking to be a lot more relaxed, but not as much fun so I have came up with a couple of ideas about where to throw in my creative design details...like invites! And today I will showcase just that.. some lovely Mario Bros invites.

Are they not the best! I decided to go with the mushroom heads and the famous question mark boxes for the invites and then bring Mario and Luigi in to the party elsewhere (stay tuned for that post!) For the invites, as requested, I used a couple of different colors for the mushroom heads. D-man recently got into Mario Galaxy which is a game with a lot of different colored toadstool's and so the invites of course had to have all of the toads included. Besides it just would not be fair to only include the generic red toad.

This file was so super simple to make when I acquired the Marjorie Ann Designs Mario Bros. file found here. The complete file is just that, complete, and comes with so many different options to play around with so I will definitely be making a lot more with it. In fact I am already started on some cupcake toppers for school and cannot wait to showcase those.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed these special invites. Remember if you are ever in need of any party decor you can always email me at jenileighdc@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to come up with something special :)

ScrapMuch Challenge: Boy & Dog Layout

9:30 AM 0 Comments
If you follow my blog at all then you know that recently my beautiful family and I welcomed our newest addition, my little moose man, who happens to be our second child and who also happened to come 5 years after our first. We all, including D-man, welcome moose man into our home with so much love (and no jealousy..surprisingly) however 5 years is a lot longer than we ever wanted in between our children..but hey life happens and so in between the two boys we ended up getting a dog named Pike, who quickly became D-man's best friend and partner in crime. So I tell you this somewhat long story because my page today is all about the love (and mischief) that my two oldest boys create.

I scrapbook to cherish and store the memories of today for tomorrow..one day my loud and crazy house will be quiet again and I will only have my scrapbook to look back on so it's very important that I document all of the small details as well as the big ones. With this page my goal was to capture the growth of these two. We all know children, and puppies, grow fast but ever since Moose man came along it seems like D-man is growing even fast, bigger, and stronger than ever before.

Just to show you how big they have both got.this photo was from last winter...see how much smaller Pike was...he is now a horse!!

The inspiration for my layout came from the ScrapMuch Sketch for this week which you can find here. This sketch is another wonderful sketch brought to you by Laura. I always have a blast playing along with these sketches. Here is what this weeks sketch looks like.

For my sketch I used the paper and some accessories from Carta Bella's "Boy Oh Boy" Pack. I am in love with this paper pack and originally purchased it because D-man is having a Mario Bros. Birthday party this year and the paper has a lot of cool Nintendo themed paper.. but then I quickly fell in love with the variety of paper and decided to use it for much more than just his birthday.

I also used accessories from the Jillibean Soup "Cool As A Cucumber" die cut pack. This is another really cute paper and accessory line which brings out a lot of green, grey, and yellow colors. Then finally the journal and date cards are from October Afternoon "Snapshots" and "All Boy" pack.

Thanks for stopping by today. Remember you have all month to play along with any of the challenges over at ScrapMuch so make sure to come on over and join us!

*I am also entering this layout into the Studio Challenges Background paper challenge. *

4 Square Scrapbook Layout

12:00 AM 0 Comments
I told you on Monday that I had a week packed full of scrapbooking layouts and I wasn't kidding! I was kept very busy last week finishing up Doo's album and this is the last page which I am showcasing from it.

Again I kept the layout very clean and simple and this time around I combined traditional scrapbooking with pocket scrapbooking and matted my photos on top of journal cards. I mentioned it before but I am so in love with the pocket scrapbooking style and this was my first year using it so I have a ton of cards and needed some help with using up some of them before my stash got completely out of hand. Now I have seen PL cards used on greeting cards and I have seen them used in various ways on traditional pages, but I think using them as mats is one of my most favorite uses for them.

Here are some close ups.

And here is the other side.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed and were inspired to create something lovely or even something non traditional using traditional materials. Have a safe and Happy Weekend.

Creative Knockouts Embossing Challenge

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Well since today is Thursday that can only mean one thing.. there's a brand new Creative Knockouts challenge up and running today! This week we would love to see all of your embossed projects, whether heat or dry embossing get out your tools and let's get fancy.

My card features a wonderful file from one of my favorite stores, Fred She Said Designs, who is generously giving one lucky winner a $10 gift card to their online store. The file I used is called Marigold's and Morpho's and is a wonderful Spring time file found here. There are so many wonderful ways which you could use this file and the best news is that it can come pre-colored, like the image I used, or you can color it in yourself.

While this image could be used for birthdays, sympathy, get well, honestly anything!!.. I decided to use it for a Mother's Day Card leaving the sentiment on the inside. I also decided to use a sketch from Mojo Monday which provided me with a little more inspiration. You can see the sketch here.

What a fun sketch, as always! Thanks for taking a peek today and I hope you come on over to Creative Knockouts and play along with our embossing challenge this week.

Merry & Bright Scrapbook Layout

12:00 AM 0 Comments
If you caught my post on Monday (found here) then you may already know that I finally finished my son's scrapbook from last year and today I have the final page to showcase to you.

Of course the end of the year gets rather busy and since we are a young family New Year's is not really that big of a deal yet, so we often end the year with Christmas and our Christmas traditions, which is what this page represents.

For this page I kept it simple, again I was just trying to get all my pages scrapped and completed before the New Year (and new baby) got too far away. All of the paper I used was from CTMH White Pines Collection which is a great seasonal paper line.

I decided to mat all of the photos to add some dimension and interest to the page. A lot of times we forget how wonderful and together a page can easily become with some simple matting.  I also had some left over chocolate paper and decided to make my own journal card using a white gel pen and a quick cricut cut title, and again keeping the page very simple and clean.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Project Life Spread - Summer Love

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Last week I took some much needed time and finished up my eldest son's scrapbook. I always feel so accomplished when I complete books since they often take up a lot of time and effort to complete. In order to make the process easier and to not fall behind this year I decided to make this album (and probably all future albums) a combination of traditional scrpabooking pages and project life style pages. Here take a peak.

This was my first year trying out Project Life and man how I love it. If you have never tried PL before it's a very easy and fun way to complete your pages using grid- style pocket protectors. I find PL to be very easy and very quick so I like to add it in if I have a ton of photos or need to catch up at all.

For this project I used a set of mis-mosh of photos that were left over and which I took at various times throughout the year. PL happened to be perfect for these photos since there was no true theme. The PL cards are a combination of cards from a couple of different sets (the bottom middle ones are from CTMH retired Jackson's line) and the small amount of accessories I used were also from my stash.

Well I hope you were inspired today! Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back here later this week for some more scrapbooking inspiration!

ScrapMuch?! Challenge!

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Welcome to another ScrapMuch Challenge?! Where we challenge you every week with a monthly sketch challenge which you can interpret any way you'd like. I really enjoy these challenges because they do just that, they challenge me with my scrapbooking layouts! Plus, Laura always does such a great job with coming up with wonderful and inspiring sketches. Here see for yourself.

Here is my take on the sketch:

Everything from this page came from my stash and honestly I've had it all for so long that I could not even tell you the makes and models :) I can tell you that the small little die cut outs come from a Project Life kit which I picked up at some point. I also know that all of the words and letters come from the same paper pack which the background paper came from, I simply fussy cut them out and pasted them on. I tried to keep the page masculine by embellishing with buttons instead of anything I would normally use, which tends to be more glitzy.

I apologize for the picture.. they are usually much better but this one just had such poor light. So anyway, you have all month to come on over to ScrapMuch?! and to enter and play along with any or all of our challenges. Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my project, I hope you were inspired to create something beautiful.

Turtley Awesome V-Day Cards

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Thanks for coming back in today as I start my Valentine's Day card making frenzy! Today I have a turtley adorable file from Marjorie Ann Designs called "I Tutley Love You" which you can find here

I started these matching cards with my favorite cut from the file set. You can see the others below. After I had the image all cut out and "finished" (meaning I put on eyelashes, blush, depth, facial features, and whatever else was needed to add dimension.) I then picked out two adorable Valentine's Day patterned paper from The Paper Studio's All Seasons Three paper pack. I love this pack and use it often because it has a great selection of papers which is sure to last you all year.

I made sure to mat each layer of patterened paper which helps to give the card more dimension. I also took a white gel pen and "Stitched" around the outside of both patterend pieces. To finalize the card I added the Turtle image to the top with foam tape. I also decided to add sequins to one of the cards just to see how I liked it.

Here is the full cut file. Again you can pick up this file here
I Turtley Love You Cutting Files Includes Clipart

I also use the sketch from one of Mojo Monday's past sketch challenges. Here is a peak at the image.

And there you go, a set of completely adorable Valentine's Day cards. Thanks again for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my project!

That beautiful designer paper comes from the ColorBok "Poolside" paper pack which showcases lots of wonderful teal, yellow, and grey DS papers. The card with the flowers on it was embellished with some of CTMH's retired Balloon Ride Accessories and the other one features a Monkey from Marjorie Ann Designs "Gone Bananas" set featured here

Creative Knockouts Anything Goes Challenge

9:20 AM 0 Comments
Thanks for joining me again today! I have a quick post with a link up to the brand new Creative Knockouts Challenge and this week we are ringing in the New Year with a wonderful Anything Goes Challenge sponsored by SLS Lines.

I used my water based markers to color in the images and as you can see the first cat got little to no shading (I did not wait for my ink to dry and it smeared a little) and then the last two were outlined in my color choice and then circle shaded in with a blending pen. This technique is so easy, you simply get your blender pen slightly wet and then starting from your outline slowly draw the ink inwards using circular motions. I am not sure if this is the best way, but for me it creates wonderful shading every time.

The image I used is called Party Cats and is a super fun image from SLS Lines. These guys offer some great digital stamps and if you need a little more inspiration you can pop on over to CK and check out what the other design team members came up with.

https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SLSLines

SLS Lines is generously giving one lucky participant 3 free digi's this week so make sure to come on over and play along. Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you were inspired to head on over and play along in our Anything Goes Challenge.

HB2U Penguin Card

9:19 AM 0 Comments
First off I would like to thank everyone for sticking with me and for visiting the blog while I was away doing the whole newborn baby thing! So, life is a lot easier with your second child as far as the whole "I know what I am doing..let me handle this fussy cry" however it's tough managing a house with a newborn and a little man.. but nothing that won't fall into place in a couple more days.

Anyways to try and help me get back on track with my crafting today I have a very easy and fun Penguin card to show off.

About a month or two ago I purchased a pre-assembled card kit that makes 8 cards. The one I picked up happens to be from Bo Bunny and is called "Hello Sunshine" which I thought would be perfect for the upcoming Spring months..and honestly to keep me motivated with the new baby (pre-cut cards are always easier to create and add your own spice to if you are short on time.) The base of this card along with the green and orange die cut the penguin is sitting on all come from that kit.

I have a lot of January birthdays so this card will at least help me tackle one of them. Again it was really easy to throw together and I thought that cute little penguin would be perfect for those cold Jan. birthdays. You can find the file at Marjorie Ann Designs or by clicking on this link. It's called Holiday Penguins but again would be great for any cold celebration.

Holiday Penguins SVG Cutting Files Includes Clipart

Well thanks for stopping in today. I hope you were inspired. Please make sure to come back over tomorrow and celebrate a brand new Creative Knockouts Challenge!

ScrapMuch?! Challenge: Laugh - Double Page Layout

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Welcome back to another ScrapMuch?! Sketch Challenge brought to you by team B! Today we are featuring a double page layout with lots of photo slots and a long title (which believe it or not was where my challenge came into play.)

So this page all stemmed from that "You Make Me Laugh" title which is actually printed chipboard. My son is such a blessing in so many ways and one of those ways is that he is always in light spirits and if he can make you laugh then you better believe he is on it...all of the time.

Here is a close up of that section of the page. I just love all of the little phrases I was able to use on this page. I figured the title was long and worked wonders with the variety of funny photos I was using.

I also had a lot of fun embellishing the left side.

The embellishments came from a variety of different packs and were kind of thrown together based on colors. I tried to stick to an outdoor theme since most of the photos were taken outside. The color combination I used was a blue, green, and brown palette. I figured the blue in the photos would match well with that numbered patterned paper and they could both stand out and add some contrast to the very green page.

Here is the original sketch. You can see that I flipped the embellishments and photos on the left hand side, this was so I could add that doily phrase without the letters being upside down.

Remember you have all month to play along with any of our challenges. You can follow this link here to check out some more inspiration using this sketch or even to submit your own take on the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you were inspired!
