You're Amazing Baby Card

Well we made it through the Christmas season and now it full on towards the new baby for me! And of course, for today's card I made a "You're Amazing" baby card to give out to anyone who makes my day around the baby's birth.

I started of this set of cards with the thought that I was going to make a bunch of "thank you" cards, but then I came across this old wooden "You Are Amazing" stamp and I knew it was perfect for those lovely characters. The papers are from The Paper Studio's "Little Safari" kit and matched perfectly with that fox which is cut from the Create A Critter Cartridge.

*Tip: When I cut out larger die cuts I try to cut out a batch of them and then take them all and run them through my Xyron Machine which makes the die cuts wonderful full bodies stickers. This way I can jut flip to my animal folder and pull out anyone I have on hand, then peel and stick!

Oh, yea the rest of that set is located here and was posted last week on my blog. Thanks for stopping by today.

Watercolor Pencil Snowman Card

Merry Christmas Eve! I told you it would not take us that long to get here. I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful and beautiful day! For today's project I created a card with a beautiful stamped image on it. I then took this image and watercolor penciled it in...which is very similar to watercolor painting except it leaves more of a pastel look and feel.

That wonderful background paper is part of The Paper Studio's Three Seasons paper pack. I love this paper pack because it features a number of wonderful patterns that you can follow throughout the entire year. I then embellished the entire card using both red shimmer trim from CTMH and some red sequins, various sizes, which I had on hand.

Again I used CTMH watercolor pencils to color in the image and the way I used them was a little new to me so I will explain it.

I took some palette paper and colored on it using my watercolor pencils. I bought my palette paper in the art section of the big box craft store..it's actually called palette paper and is made of a shiny, non porous surface so you can add paint and water and what not to it without the fibers soaking it in. After I had a very heavy dusting of my pencil on the paper I simply took a wet paint brush and brushed in all of the color. This technique was a lot of fun to use and created beautiful and perfect shading.

Well there you have it a new card and a new technique for you to try out. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Merry Everything Holiday Card

Good Morning! We are getting right down to the nitty gritty this holiday season and since there is still no snow here in Upstate it doesn't feel much like winter or Christmas, oh well I suppose soon enough I will be complaining about all of the snow we have!

Today I have a fun Merry Everything card which was made using the Christmas Presents Bear from Marjorie Ann Designs

This is a really fun file to play around with and came out really well done. Some of my secrets to working with cut files is to shade all of the edges prior to assembling. With this bear design I went around all of the bear pieces with a finger dauber and some brown ink. This gives the image a shadow or 3-D look which makes it pop a little bit more. I also used to have such a tough time with the eye balls but I now go in and work the white gel pen to add some interest to the eyes. Lastly, I try to keep the image in the solid colors and then use the pattern paper for adding additional interest without loosing the main focal.

Now, please note that I am not a professional die cutter assembler or anything, these are just some tricks that I have worked for me in the past. I would love to hear any other tips or tricks that you have for using die cuts so if you have some great ones don't hesitate to comment below.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this project and I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!

Amazing Baby Card Set

So I have been all about Babies and Christmas/Holidays lately and who can blame me for both being so close. Well today's post is no exception, but I promise you will enjoy these cards anyway. With the baby being so close I really needed to hurry up and create some baby cards for all of the "thank you's" and "welcomes" and "just because's" and these cards were so easy to create that I ended up making a set of them.

For today's cards I used The Paper Studio's "Little Safari" page kit. Now normally I do not use page kits because I have so much stash on hand, but this kit was on sale and was adorable so I couldn't resist getting it.

Every once in a while these kits come in really handy, especially since they coordinate all of the paper, stickers, and die cuts for you, making them perfect for the new paper crafter or even for the one who has very little time. I picked up a couple the last time I was at the big box craft store because they were on sale and because they are perfect to bring to the hospital or perhaps even to stay on top of my pages with the new baby at home.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Night Before Christmas Embossed Card

Happy Last Friday before Christmas!! Of course for this special day I have a wonderful and easy Holiday card to share with you. This card is another one that is very easy to "batch" make (i.e. make 10 in 30 minutes) and uses very little "extras." Here take a peak.

I am not sure if you can tell, but if you look closely you can see that I went through and dry embossed the red background paper using a snowflakes folder. I then cut a piece of patterned paper down to 4 1/4" by 1 1/2" so that it fit the length of the card but did not cover up too much of that lovely embossing. I am a huge fan of The Paper Studio "All Seasons Three" paper pack which is where that fun paper came from. I then added some CTMH silver Shimmer Trim to the top of that, you could also use ribbon, banners, or scrap paper...) and then I accented with white gems.

Finally I attached the die cut right to the middle of the page, you could also mat this onto some white paper but since I was batch making I decided to leave it simple and clean. The die cut is from Marjorie Ann Designs and is from a set called Night Before Christmas. This is a really fun set and would be perfect for either cards or scrapbook layouts.

Well thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Creative Knockouts Christmas Challenge

Happy 38 weeks and Happy Thursdays. Ever since I have been pregnant Thursdays have taken on a whole new meaning, not only is it Scandal/Grey's night but now it's also the beginning of a new week for the little one! Of course Thursday has also always meant a brand new challenge over at Creative Knockouts and this week we are proudly being sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs with our Christmas Delight Challenge.

For my card I decided to keep it a little less traditional and went with a really cute image called Hanging the Wreath, which can be found here

For this card I knew I wanted to use some of the White Pines paper pack offered from CTMH but I wasn't sure which pattern to use. I then fell in love with that green holly background paper which is from a 6x6 paper pack I have had in my stash forever and decided to go with the zig zag non-traditional pattern from White Pines to match.

The image is from Sassy Studio Designs and is colored in using Marvey Alcohol markers and a blender pen. You can check out SSD's store here and you can head over to Creative Knockouts and add your Christmas project for your chance to win 4 free digi's!!
http://www.sassystudiodesigns.blogspot.ca/
The embellishments on the bottom left of the card are from Becky Higgins PL Lucky Charm kit which I picked up on sale!! Score! So these little kits are really made for Project Life/PL projects but stretch your supplies and your imagination and feel free to use both cards and the accessories/embellishments in any way that is creative!

Warm Wishes: White Inked Holiday Card

A couple of weeks ago while I was out shopping I decided to take a dive and purchase some white ink. Now I don't have that many ink pads, think enough for every color then a couple of ones with different shades, so maybe like 15 at most. I always tell new papercrafters that your supply will grow in time so don't go out and purchase everything all at once - this is the perfect example. Well anyway long story short.. white ink is amazing!! Think embossing without the powders and heat...yeah I know!!

So I started with some Kraft colored  cardstock folded into a standard A2 greeting card (4.25"x5.5"). I then took a couple of different snowflake stamps and inked them in white ink and stamped away. This is called random stamping and some swear to a pattern while others just go  wild on it.. it's your card and your choice.. play around and see what feels better. One piece of advice is to put a piece of scrap paper under your base so you can stamp off the edge a little. I also stamped the baby blue paper with the white ink and the snowflakes.

Next I layered some coca paper (with corners rounded) along with cream and that stamped baby blue. Make sure to stamp your sentiment onto the Cocoa before layering the other papers (again with the white ink).

The snowman image is another stamp which I stamped in black ink and then fussy cut out (fussy cut = cut with scissors). I then took the snowman images and colored them in with some alcohol markers and adhered onto the baby blue. I finished off the card with a small bow using Glacier Twine.

Well thanks for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed the cards and were inspired to head out and create something beautiful.

Thank you Card plus a Baby Blog Hop

We are nearing the end of my second pregnancy, as many of you know, and boy let me tell you about doctors and how many I need to see each week...3! Yep that's right I am averaging 3 doctors a week and of course they are all in separate locations!! Oh well we are almost done, but the biggie with so many appointments is that I am a little behind and playing a lot of catch up with my design work.

So with that in mind, I apologize and wanted to give a shot out to the lovely ladies who put together a spectacular blog hop in honor of my new baby and I. This is a lovely group of ladies who also happen to be very talented in the papercrafting world and I am so very fortunate to know them.  In return, I decided to make some a Thank you cards which is where my post for today comes in. This card is no where near how beautiful and gorgeous their projects are but I did want to show my gratitude, plus with a new baby coming you truly cannot have too many thank you cards on hand.

The inspiration for this card came from the Paper Crafts 365 days of card book. I haven't really used this book until recently, but lately I have fond it very inspirational if I am stuck in a rut. For the card I simply took a flower patterned paper and fussy cut out some flowers to give the card some dimension. I simply love the popped 3-D look those flowers give when attached with foam tape.
I then tied some ribbon and twine around the front and put a "thank you" rub on sticker centered on the bottom. This was a really easy card to throw together and would be great for making batches of cards.

So starting with Mrs. Janis at the Pause, Dream, and Enjoy Blog please feel free to head on through the small hop (less than 10 ladies) and check out their beautiful projects! Again I know it's a little late, but all of the gorgeous projects are still up and either way all of these blogs are well worth your visit...you will be inspired!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Welcome Baby 5x7" Mini Page

Good Morning and Happy Monday! My mom recently picked me up a few of the mini 5x7 memory books and at first I was not sure how to go about using them.. you know sometimes you get stuck trying new things?! Then one day it hit me, duh!! why don't I make some mini albums and fill them with beautiful pictures and wah-lah my new project was quickly born.

I apologize for the gem glare I could not get rid of it.

For this page I used the CTMH Kaleidoscope paper line, which is a really fun line to play around with. I decided to add a journal tag, out of habit, and I love the way it came out. I also decided to use a Marjorie Ann Design Cut File called Sweet Dreams.. and that adorable bear.. his name is Bubbles.  Can anyone say adorable and perfect for babies and even smaller kids!!

You can check out the complete file here.

Bubbles The Bear Sweet Dreams SVG Cutting Files Includes Clipart

After completing this page for my new mini album I quickly fell in love with this idea! The 5x7 pages come together in no time flat and they are super cute and easy to manage.. or perhaps even give away as presents - can anyone say stocking stuffers?!!

Well thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are inspired to head out and create something beautiful and perhaps even to try something brand new and a little out of your comfort zone!

ScrapMuch!? Sketch Challenge Explore Layout

Thanks for stopping in today. Since it's Friday I have a lovely ScrapMuch? Layout sketch challenge for you to play along with over the weekend. I've mentioned it before, but I'm going to say it again, I absolutely love playing around with the sketches that Laura makes. They are always fun and easy to interpret plus they are not overcrowded but seem to carry just hte right amount of weight. Here take a look.

And my interpretation follows it pretty much to a "T" but again get creative and have fun, there is no right or wrong.

The paper I used comes from the Colorbok "poolside" paper pack which I happened to pick up for the new baby. The pack is filled with yellows, teals, and greens making it perfect for boys and girls. The flowers are fabric flowers from The Paper Studio and are so fun and easy to assemble and layer for different types of looks. The title and the note cards are from my journal card stash and I have had them forever, and hey they match up perfectly with this new paper pack, so yay! go me! I love it when I can use things I have had on hand for years!!

Another really awesome thing about the ScrapMuch?! Sketch challenges is that you have all month to link up your projects!! This is fabulous because you can create something beautiful and not have to worry about being rushed. So, in short, come on over and play along with us... here is the direct link.

Thanks and Have a fabulous weekend!

Creative Knockouts Snowy Card Challenge

This week over at Creative Knockouts we have a really fun "Winter Wonderland" theme to play along with and this "It's Snowing" image from, our sponsor, All Dressed Up was just perfect.

For this card I used the White Pines Paper Pack from CTMH along with some white pearls, lace, and that adorable mitten (all from my stash.) I decided to try a different approach on coloring the image and created a color palette using CTMH watercolor pencils and then grabbed up the color using a damp paint brush and applied it that way. The outcome was more of a watercolor effect, than simply shading the color pencils with a wet blender pen, but it was also really fun! I'm not sure which one I prefer...have I ever mentioned that I simply like to color with any medium.

Here's a side view so you can see how the inside was also decorated.

Make sure to head on over to Creative Knockouts this week and play along with our Winter Wonderland project. One lucky crafter will be walking away with 2 free digi stamps from All Dressed Up!!

Holiday Card Series Mimic Day 2

Hello and welcome to another lovely day here as we count down the days until Christmas!! It's really not that far away!!

For today's post I was completely inspired by Kristina Werner and her Holiday Card Series. She always does such a fantastic job with her cards in general and with the holiday cards she keeps it fun and refreshing! If you have not been watching this year then you are totally missing out.

So, anyway here is the card that I made. It was another set of really easy cards where with the help of my Cricut I had a batch made in no time flat!

I cut out the holly as well as the label for the "Happy Holidays" sentiment using my Cricut Explore machine. I then decided to sponge ink the holly to give it more of a shaded effect. The gold around the sentiment is Tim Holtz Distress Stain in "bronze" so you can just imagine how shiny and crisp that actually looks. I then took a gold pigment ink and stamped "Happy Holidays" using an old wooden sentiment stamp. Oh yes, and finally I "stitched" around the outer edge using my White Gel Ink pen and added some glitter gems because I love bling.

Now Kristina's cards were created using watercolor which is such an amazing technique if you do not have any plaid paper, but since I am a plaid buff I had some plaid paper on hand and decided to take the easy way out. I was inspired however when she was making those thin gold lines and so I decided to simply add some gold foil pen marks in the darker green areas of my patterned paper using my Cricut Bronze Marker.

Here is Kristina's wonderful video.

Thanks for stopping in today to check out my holiday card and as an added bonus check out this month's amazing D-Size stamp of the month!! I totally can't wait to get my hands on this one!
